Saudi Arabia said three Iranian boats were forced to retreat from its territorial waters after the kingdom’s Border Guards fired warning shots at them.
The official spokesperson for the Border Guards stated that maritime patrols spotted three Iranian boats after they entered the Saudi waters on Thursday evening, at 6.30pm.
Repeated warnings were issued to the boats, urging them to stop, but they refused to respond, the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
According to the procedures followed in these cases, the Border Guards fired warning shots, forcing the Iranian boats to retreat.
The spokesperson indicated that they “would not allow any violations in the kingdom’s waters”.
