Sharjah to resume parking fees from July 1
Motorists in the emirate were exempt from paying parking fees for three months starting April 1

Sharjah has confirmed that parking fees will resume from July 1.
Motorists in the emirate were exempt from paying parking fees for three months starting April 1 as part of measures announced by the government to support citizens and residents during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The municipality has provided 40,000 parking spaces for free to residents during the three months, confirmed Khalid bin Falah Al Suwaidi, assistant general manager for the customer service sector.
During the period, inspection teams ensured that motorists were not abusing the measure by blocking cars or reserving more than one spot, he added.
Al Suwaidi said the resumption of parking fees on July 1 will coincide with the reopening of the economic and tourism sectors, which requires the provision of public parking to all residents and visitors.

Ali Ahmed Abu Ghazin, director of Public Parking Department also confirmed that the municipality will compensate those who used parking cards.
Motorists whose subscriptions end on or after July 1 will be compensated by adding three additional months to the end date, while subscriptions ending before that date will also have three months added starting from April 1 until the end date of the subscription.
The municipality has compensated 11,643 subscribers and text messages will be sent to inform them about the new expiry date.
