Sheikh Mohammed issued Resolution No (27) of 2022 appointing Saeed Al Maktoum as chairman and Resolution No (28) of 2022 appointing Reem Al Hashimy as CEO respectively. In his role as the chairman of the Dubai Expo 2020 Higher Committee, he also supervised the preparations for the mega six-month event. Reem Al Hashimy, who also serves as the UAE’s Minister of State for International Cooperation, is one of the rising stars of the UAE government. She led the country’s bid to host the world expo, in her role as the managing director of Expo in 2020 and a member of the Higher Committee of Dubai Expo 2020. Transforming the expo site into a new city, Expo City Dubai will be a smart destination for businesses, driven by sustainability, innovation, education and entertainment. It is set to open in October this year. Furthermore, the Authority hopes to consolidate relationships formed during Expo 2020 Dubai with countries, organisations, institutions and investment funds. In order to attract global companies, investors, and institutions, the Authority’s objectives are aligned with Dubai’s strategic vision. Additionally, the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP28) will be held at Expo City Dubai in November 2023.
