Home UAE Abu Dhabi UAE President Sheikh Mohamad bin Zayed meets Egyptian President The meeting reviewed the UAE’s upcoming hosting of the COP28 and the need for advancing collective climate action by Marisha Singh September 19, 2023 twitter.com/MohamedBinZayed The UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt met in Abu Dhabi to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries. During the meeting at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi, President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed welcomed President El-Sisi, who congratulated him for the successful space mission accomplished by astronaut Sultan AlNeyadi. The Egyptian President’s visit co-incided with the return of AlNeyadi to the UAE, who completed the longest Arab space mission in history. UAE-Egypt ties The two leaders discussed the economic, investment, and development relations between the two countries, as well as promised to expand opportunities in bilateral cooperation to further serve the interests of their peoples. The leaders discussed its importance in advancing collective climate action, especially in the areas of sustainability and resource conservation, and delivering mutual benefits to all in efforts to achieve a better future for humanity. Egypt had played host to COP27 which had seen landmark agreements towards climate action. Additionally, President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and the Egyptian President reiterated their keenness to continue engaging in consultation and strengthen joint Arab action to address regional and international challenges as the UAE and Egypt work to enhance security and stability and foster lasting prosperity for the region’s peoples. Both sides underscored the importance of working towards peaceful solutions to regional crises through dialogue and diplomacy while bolstering regional peace and stability. The meeting was attended by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of the Presidential Court; Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi; His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the National Media Office; and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Advisor for Special Affairs at the Presidential Court along with other ministers and senior officials of the UAE.
