Sheikh Mohammed announces two ministerial appointments

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced new appointments to the UAE government.

Hamad Mubarak Al Shamsi, the former secretary general of the Supreme Petroleum Council in 2014, was appointed as a state minister, while Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman was designated as the chairman of protocols for the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, which has a ministerial ranking.

Sulaiman previously held the post of director-general of the Dubai Protocol and Hospitality Department, official news agency WAM reported.

The appointments were made as per the directives issued by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and in consultation with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Earlier this month, Sheikh Mohammed approved two cabinet reshuffles in the foreign ministry. Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan and Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar were both appointed as ministers of state.
