Six Senses AlUla to open by 2027 in Saudi Arabia

Six Senses has signed a hotel management agreement with AUla Development Company to open a new property in Saudi Arabia.

Six Senses AlUla is expected to welcome its first guests in 2027 and will be situated in a “natural oasis sprinkled with lush palm groves and framed by dramatic red-sandstone cliffs.”

The 100 guest villas and 25 residences will reportedly be built using architectural methods that blend with the natural landscape around the property.

Six Senses says the F&B options here include a restaurant set within the natural geological rock formations of the region, with the walls of the restaurants featuring “rock drawings dating back thousands of years.”

“Bringing to life the drama and beauty of a site with unprecedented historical and cultural significance is a sensational opportunity,” says Six Senses chief executive officer Neil Jacobs. “It inspires uncompromising sustainability, well-being, and hospitality that ignites the senses in a way that is profoundly emotional. It is exciting to be a new chapter to AlUla’s legacy.”

Fabien Toscano, chief executive officer of AlUla Development Company which is fully owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), added, “We are excited to join hands with Six Senses to open a one-of-a-kind luxury hotel in AlUla. The venture aligns with our commitment to elevating the hospitality offering in AlUla and marks another significant stride in our pursuit of sustainable development, contributing to the economic diversification and transformation of Saudi Arabia in line with Vision 2030.”

Six Senses operates 23 hotels and resorts in 18 countries and has signed a further 43 properties into the development pipeline.

Another of its Saudi properties, Six Senses Southern Dunes, The Red Sea, will meanwhile has begun accepting guest bookings for stays from Wednesday, 1 November, 2023, and will therefore become the first hotel to open within the mega The Red Sea development in the kingdom.
