Smart Dubai has listed the 14 entities that were most-compliant with sharing data on the unified platform which is being established in the emirate.

The ‘Data First’ challenge, launched in July this year, urges government and semi-government data entities to assimilate and share data.

The 14 entities lauded for their efforts in terms of data sharing to the Dubai Pulse platform include: Dubai Municipality, Dubai Health Authority, Dubai Land Department, Dubai Sports Council, Legal Affairs Department, Dubai Economic Development, Road and Transport Authority, Dubai Statistics Centre, Department of Finance, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Dubai Culture, Mohammed bin Rashid Housing Establishment, Dubai Courts, and Dubai Maritime City Authority. The compliance rates of these entities range from 87 per cent to 98 per cent, the statement said.

A total of 35 government and semi-government entities participated in the challenge.

The challenge will recognise three entities that record the most progress as per the five key criteria, ‘compliance with the Dubai Data Law’ being one of them.

Participants will also be evaluated on their ‘attendance of Smart Dubai data events’ to monitor their engagement with the smart-city ecosystem. A third measure includes ‘collaboration on data requests’ from other government and semi-government entities.

The fourth criterion includes contribution to ‘increasing data hosted on Dubai Pulse’ by participating in ingestion cycles, while the fifth measure evaluates the entities’ support for building a data-driven culture via workshops and awareness programmes.

“Data is an indispensable and valuable commodity for building smart cities, offering a wealth of insight to support decision-makers,” said Younus Al Nasser, assistant director general, Smart Dubai and CEO, Smart Dubai Data.

“Establishing an up-to-date and pertinent record of city data is a leading objective for us at Smart Dubai – an objective that calls for engaging with government and semi-government entities across the emirate to collect their data, in line with the Dubai Data Law announced in October 2015.”
