Home Industry Hospitality Spain’s Meliá to take over Desert Palm Dubai hotel The hotel is surrounded by four polo fields by Robert Anderson April 23, 2018 Spain’s Meliá Hotels International is to take over the running of the Desert Palm Dubai Hotel from Minor Hotels’ Per Aquum. Meliá said in a statement it had signed a deal to manage the 160-acre resort, which features 39 rooms, suites and villas among polo fields. Other features include an outdoor pool, all-day dining restaurant Epicure, meat and fish restaurant Rate, the Red bar, Polo Bar and Al Fresco Terrace. In addition, the site has four polo fields and facilities to host horses. “Taking over operations at this exclusive Dubai resort makes us very proud and also gives us a chance to demonstrate our proven excellence in the management of luxury urban resorts in a market to which the company is already firmly committed,” said Meliá Hotels International EVP and CEO Gabriel Escarrer. Meliá also operates three other hotels with property owner Albwardy Investment in Zanzibar, Tanzania and Argentina. Its other projects in Dubai include a new hotel under the ME brand set to open at the Zaha Hadid-designed Opus building later this year.
