Home UAE Dubai St Regis To Open First Polo Resort In Dubai The resort will have 136 rooms, residential villas, a polo academy, a polo club and a riding school. by Mary Sophia March 16, 2015 Starwood Hotels and Resorts announced that it will launch the first St Regis Polo resort in Dubai in partnership with Al Habtoor Group. The St Regis Dubai Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club is scheduled to open in early 2017 and will be the centerpiece of a six-million square-foot equestrian sports complex, the company said in a statement. It will feature 136 luxury guest rooms, 24 luxury bungalows and various culinary venues. The resort is also slated to have 138 residential villas along with a polo club, a polo academy and a riding school with 500 stables. Guests will have access to the academy, which will offer a range of programmes including dressage, riding, and show jumping for riders. St Regis Polo resort will have four polo fields in total, the operator said. Designed by British architects WS Atkins& Partners, the resort will be inspired by Andalusian architecture. The St. Regis Dubai Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club will be part of Dubailand, a development off Emirates Road that features various sports, leisure, entertainment and shopping attractions. “The UAE is our largest market in the Middle East, and we continue to see opportunities to grow our brand portfolio across the country,” said Bart Carnahan, senior vice president, acquisitions & development, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Europe, Africa and Middle East. “This signing will strengthen Starwood’s portfolio in Dubai, as we continue to strategically expand our luxury footprint in the region.” Aside from the resort, Starwood is also partnering with Al Habtoor to open three new hotels under the St Regis, W and the Westin brands in Dubai. Dubai is the company’s second largest market after New York City with 15 operating hotels and seven properties in the pipeline Regionally, Starwood operates nearly 50 hotels and resorts under brands such as St. Regis, Sheraton, Westin, W Hotels, Le Méridien, Four Points by Sheraton, and Aloft.
