Home Industry Real Estate Stage one infrastructure works on Deira Islands complete – Nakheel Stage two infrastructure works on the project are now underway by Aarti Nagraj December 14, 2016 Dubai developer Nakheel has confirmed that stage one infrastructure works on its massive Deira Islands development are now complete. The first stage covered two of the four islands on the development, and was completed ahead of time in September this year, Nakheel said in a statement. The work included more than a million square metres of soil improvement, 44 kilometres of sewage lines and 12 km of roads. Stage two infrastructure works are underway, it added. Earlier this week, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA)confirmed that the construction of a new, Dhs150m road bridge linking mainland Dubai with Deira Islands was complete. The new bridge, funded and constructed by Nakheel as part of its Dhs1bn infrastructure works at Deira Islands, is set to open on Friday. The bridge will link with Al Khaleej Road in the direction of the new ships harbour and fish market along the stretch of Abu Baker Al Siddique Road. Currently, access is limited to construction teams and authorised visitors. Nakheel chairman Ali Rashid Lootah said: “The bridge is a key part of the ongoing infrastructure at the development.” The developer awarded construction contracts worth nearly Dhs4m for sewage treatment plant work in June.
