Home Industry Retail Talabat now offers 24×7 grocery delivery service in Dubai The company said that it fulfils deliveries within an hour and offers groceries at hypermarket prices by Varun Godinho April 8, 2020 Online food-ordering platform Talabat has expanded its Daily by Talabat service to deliver groceries 24×7 across many parts of Dubai. The company said in a statement that Daily by Talabat, the region’s first ‘dark store’, fulfils delivery within an hour, and offers groceries at hypermarket prices. It added that the service which was initially launched over two months ago covers more than half of Dubai. And with many existing grocery delivery services being stretched with long lead times to deliver, through our 24-hour free-delivery capabilities, we are giving customers unlimited choice on when to order,” said Mohammed Yildirim, Talabat’s managing director for the UAE. “We’re not here to make you wait days, or even half a day, however potentially somewhat longer than the usual 15 minutes, as we have increased our delivery radius to provide greater benefit for the residents of Dubai,” he added. Read: Zomato sells UAE operations, more consolidation expected in the market All Daily by Talabat staff are equipped with sanitisers, gloves and masks, which they use during picking of groceries, as well as pick-up from Daily by Talabat stores and drop-off to a customer’s residence. “During the pick-up of the groceries, our riders form an orderly queue, maintaining social distance – a couple of meters apart from each other, much as you would at the supermarket. For us, being safe throughout all points of the delivery process is the most key thing for our riders, customers, and our grocery pickers,” said Yildirim. On March 16, Talabat said that customers would be able to choose free delivery of their food orders from a range of different restaurants close to their location, as an measure to support customers and restaurants during the Covid-19 pandemic. Kuwait-based Talabat is the Middle East’s largest online food delivery platform, and is wholly-owned by German firm Delivery Hero, which also owns delivery start-up Carriage.
