Home Lifestyle Auto The Coolest Police Cars In The World Dubai’s new Lamborghini and Ferrari patrol cars are the talk of the town, but they have some competition from elsewhere in the world. by Neil Churchill April 21, 2013 Dubai Police wowed the emirate and the world recently with the unveiling of their latest patrol cars, a Lamborghini Aventador and a Ferrari FF, totalling a combined value of around Dhs4 million. Many on Twitter used the hash tag #OnlyinDubai to describe their awe at the new vehicles, but that’s not strictly true. As cool as Dubai’s latest law enforcing wheels are, it’s not the first place to put flashing lights on top of a super car. Here are some of the coolest police cars in the world. Italy The spiritual home of Ferrari and Lamborghini, the Italian stallions were using a Lambo to patrol their streets before anyone else. In 2004 Lamborghini gave two Gallardo LP560-4s to the Roman State Polizia. Excruciatingly, only one remains after its sibling was crashed. Abu Dhabi Dubai isn’t the only emirate in the UAE whose police know how to drive fast. Abu Dhabi uses this Nissan GTR to patrol the city’s roads. Great Britain Despite their mild-mannered, ‘bobbys-on-the-beat’ reputation, British police have some fast wheels up their sleeve. London Metropolitan Police opted for a canary yellow bodywork when choosing their Gallardo. Unfortunately this Caparo T1 is just a prototype, but was logically named the Rapid Response Vehicle. Fortunately this Lotus Evora is not a prototype and patrols the motorways of the West Midlands. Capable of 0-62mph in five seconds and a top speed of 162mph, it’s handling makes it inescapable on England’s country lanes. More realistically if you’re doing something you shouldn’t be, you’ll be pulled over by one of these. The Jaguar XF is very British, and very cool. Columbia Columbian police confiscated this gorgeously-retro Ferrari 348 from a local drug dealer. It was put up for auction but failed to attract any bids meeting its $250,000 price tag. Instead, local police stuck some flashing lights on its roof, gave it some new paintwork and voila, they had a new patrol car. Holland The Dutch often display their coolness as a nation in different ways to other European countries. Rather than a predictable sports or super car, the Frevoland Police opted for a Spyker C8 Spyder. Germany This list wouldn’t be complete without an entry from the Germans. Home to the autobahn, German police need some serious power to keep up with their criminals. Fortunately they opted for the most powerful four-door saloon car on the planet. This Brabus CLS V12 S Rocket has 730 horse power and comes with a top speed of 225mph. You can’t run from this thing, even on the autobahn. Less scary-looking but you’ll still think twice about outracing it, before pulling over and switching your engine off, this Porsche 911 Carrera S goes from 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds. United States The U.S. has more cool cop cars than you can shake a stick at. So here’s just a few. Michigan City police use this modified, and seriously cool, Cadillac CTS-V as their patrol car. This Dodge Viper is so achingly beautiful and dazzling in its livery and badges, if we were a criminal we’d be too busy admiring it than to drive away. The classic Dodge Charger cop car, made famous in The Transformers franchise, fortunately for the bad guys this one won’t change into decepticon Barricade. 0 Comments
