UAE amends list of public holidays for 2019
FAHR has added a holiday to mark Mawlid Al Nabi – the anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday
A revised list of public holidays has been revealed for the public and private sectors in the UAE by the Federal Authority For Government Human Resources (FAHR).
According to the announcement made on Sunday, Commemoration Day will be observed on Saturday, November 30 this year. Previously, the FAHR had said the holiday would be observed on Sunday, December 1.
Commemoration Day, previously known as Martyr’s Day, is held in remembrance of members of the armed forces killed in combat.
That will be followed by a two-day holiday for UAE National Day, which will be celebrated on Monday December 2 and Tuesday December 3 this year.
FAHR has also added a holiday to mark Mawlid Al Nabi – the anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday – which was excluded in the previous list. It will be observed on the 12-Rabi al-awwal-1441 – which is expected to fall on Saturday, November 9.

Under a new decree approved by the UAE Cabinet in March, public and private sector companies in the UAE will have the same number of national holidays this year and in 2020.
The other big public holiday coming up this year is UAE National Day, which will be celebrated on Monday, December 2 and Tuesday, December 3.
