UAE consulate in Houston issues advisory regarding tropical storm Cristobal

The UAE consulate in Houston has issued a weather alert for citizens located in Louisiana – New Orleans and surrounding areas, advising them to be cautious in light of the tropical storm Cristobal.

The consulate added that the storm, accompanied by heavy winds and rain, is expected on Saturday evening or Sunday morning.

“Tropical Storm (Cristobal) will lead to floods, road closures, difficulty or inability to move and endanger lives, and therefore we stress the need to follow local news and adhere to warnings and instructions, as well as not to leave homes during heavy rains,” the UAE consulate tweeted.

The consulate urged citizens to call its emergency number 7135020206 in case of emergencies or for assistance. 

The National Hurricane Center has issued an advisory highlighting the danger of a life-threatening storm, Storm Cristobal, with tropical strong force winds, expected to begin overnight along the north Gulf coast, from central Louisiana to western Florida Panhandle, including metropolitan New Orleans.

Heavy rainfall will continue from central to north Florida overnight, spreading from east to west, across the eastern and central Gulf coast from the Florida Panhandle to Louisiana on Sunday, it added.
