The UAE will gradually scrap all restrictions on activities and events capacities in the UAE.

“In light of the decline in infection rate and further recovery measures, the country, today, is announcing the cancellation of restrictions on events and activities for various economic, tourism and entertainment facilities, and shopping malls and modes of transportation, to reach their maximum capacities by mid-February,” said Dr Saif Al Dhaheri, official spokesperson for the National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority (NCEMA),  during the UAE Government’s media briefing on the Covid-19 pandemic on February 9.

“It was also decided to raise the maximum capacities at social events, including weddings and funerals, and local authorities will determine the numbers of participants allowed,” he added.

Physical distancing in mosques and places of worship has also been reduced to one metre. He urged the people to commit to the green pass system on the Al Hosn application.

Dr Al Dhaheri noted that relevant authorities will continue to monitor adherence to the precautionary measures and will take legal action against individuals and establishments that violate them.

Local emergency and crisis teams will be responsible for determining capacities in each emirate.

Subsequently, Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management announced that all activities, events and social gatherings in the emirate can also gradually return to full capacity by February 15.

The UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention meanwhile reported 1,538 Covid-19 cases on February 9, raising the total nationwide count to 862,514.
