Home GCC UAE UAE government denies imminent Covid-19 lockdown It urged the public not to circulate rumours or to rely on news shared by fake accounts by Varun Godinho September 27, 2020 The UAE government’s Ministry of Interior (MoI) took to Twitter on Saturday to deny reports of an imminent Covid-19 lockdown within the country. In a tweet, the ministry displayed the screenshot of a message that appeared to be from the MoI sent out on September 25, claiming that the government had decided to lockdown the country and urging everyone to self-quarantine. Last week, the Abu Dhabi Emergency Crisis and Disasters Committee for the Covid-19 pandemic also took to Twitter to quash rumours regarding changes in the rules surrounding entry to the Abu Dhabi. The total number of registered cases have now reached 90,618, which include 79,676 recoveries and 411 deaths.
