UAE authorities warned Emiratis to follow the news, and urged citizens to adhere to official advisories to stay safe. On its Twitter page, the UAE Consulate in New York City, said: “Attention #UAE Nationals in #NewYork: A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for the State of #NewYork today. Your safety is our priority. Please stay informed by following your local news updates and strictly adhere to all official advisories issued by local authorities. Intense rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour were falling across the region, and the National Weather Service warned that rain in excess of eight inches “is increasingly likely” in parts of the tri-state area.
