Home GCC UAE UAE launches national youth agenda The agenda envisions young people playing a greater role in the UAE’s economic development by Staff Writer October 5, 2016 Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has launched a new national agenda for youth. The agenda envisions young people playing a larger role in the country’s economy by providing them with education and leadership opportunities to increase productivity. This will be achieved through capturing feedback and input on policies through the UAE Youth Council and the setting up of a dedicated ministry and international youth councils to support young workers and review international best practices. The country also aims to collect youth-related data at a national centre and launch a virtual interactive platform to link young people with the UAE government. Other plans include an annual youth retreat to build dialogue between the country’s leadership and its youth and a national business leadership plan featuring 36 public and private sector companies. The youth agenda will see the launch of centres across the country specialising in creativity, media, culture and other areas. Dubai Media Office said the agenda was established during a two-day retreat in Dubai attended by ministers and young leaders. It also follows a 100-day action plan revealed by the country’s new youth minister earlier this year. Read: UAE’s new youth minister submits 100-day plan 0 Comments
