The move has been implemented November 1 onwards, and is in collaboration with UAE’s telecom providers Etisalat and du. This is part of TRA’s campaign to protect consumers in the country and prevent surprise charges in their monthly bills. “As of November 1, 2019 purchases from mobile application stores will not be processed through the mobile number” – a post on TRA’s official Instagram account read. Alternatively, customers can set a cap on the value of purchases from app stores by informing their service provider.
