Home Transport Aviation UAE low-cost carrier Air Arabia launches direct flights to Vienna The route will begin as a four-times weekly service, before increasing to a daily service in December by Aarti Nagraj June 25, 2019 UAE low-cost carrier Air Arabia will launch direct flights between Sharjah and Vienna from September 15, it announced on Tuesday. The six-hour flight to the Austrian capital will initially operate four times a week, on Sundays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, a statement said. The frequency will increase to daily flights starting mid-December. Flights on Fridays and Sundays will depart Sharjah at 5.35pm, arriving in Vienna at 9.50pm. The return flights will depart from Vienna at 10.40pm, and arrive in Sharjah at 6.20am the next day. On Saturdays, the flight will leave from Sharjah at 7.25am and land in Vienna at 11.40am, with return flight departing from the Austrian capital at 12.30pm and arriving in Sharjah at 8.10pm. The flight on Wednesday will depart from Sharjah at 7.15am, arriving at Vienna at 11.30am, while the return flight will depart Vienna at 12.20pm and land in Sharjah at 8pm. Adel Al Ali, group CEO, Air Arabia, said: “This new service linking the two cities will further strengthen the trade and tourism ties between both nations, while providing our leisure and business travellers with a new choice for value-for-money air travel.” Air Arabia, which serves over 170 international and domestic routes from its hubs in the UAE, Morocco and Egypt, has been expanding its network and recently announced plans to launch direct flights to Tunis and Kyrgyzstan’s capital city Bishkek from July.
