UAE to monitor Emiratisation efforts at private sector firms

The UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has said it will begin monitoring two recently announced decrees requiring the mandatory employment of Emiratis for certain positions within private sector firms.

Under the rules, companies employing more than 500 workers must hire at least one Emirati job seeker for an occupational health and safety officer position, the ministry said.

Furthermore, those with 1,000 employees must hire a minimum of two Emirati data entry employees.

The ministry said it had prepared a list of potential candidates to fill the required positions.

Under Ministerial Decree No. (711) companies specialised in construction and industrial works employing more than 500 workers won’t receive work permits unless an Emirati health and safety officer has been assigned.

Decree No. (710) states two Emiratis must be employed at firm with more than 1,000 employees in a specific data entry role to handle Tash’heel online services.
