Home GCC UAE UAE: New Covid-19 field hospital opens in Sharjah The Mohamed Bin Zayed Field Hospital in Sharjah has 204 beds, 48 of which are reserved for intensive care patients by Varun Godinho March 29, 2021 A new Covid-19 field hospital called the Mohamed Bin Zayed Field Hospital (MBZFH) in Sharjah was inaugurated on Sunday. The hospital was built within 10 days, and spans an area of 7,000 square metres, reported state-run news agency WAM. It includes 204 beds, 48 of which are for intensive care and 156 for moderate and severe cases. The hospital is staffed with 75 doctors, 231 nurses, 44 technicians and assistant health personnel. Dr. Marwan Al Kaabi, acting executive director of operations at the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), said that the opening of the Mohammed Bin Zayed Field Hospital in Sharjah is a qualitative addition to the field hospitals that were previously opened in Dubai and Ajman. She added that the facilities would be “in line with international health standards to increase the health sector’s capacity.” Read: UAE to set up 7 Covid-19 field hospitals As of Sunday, the UAE has reported a total of 455,197 infections, including 2,128 cases over the previous 24 hours. The latest infections were detected following 230,734 examinations conducted to screen for the virus. The UAE’s health ministry added on Sunday that 2,243 patients had recovered over the previous 24 hours, while there were four recorded fatalities. The total number of recoveries therefore stands at 438,706 and fatalities at 1,481. The inauguration of the latest field hospital in Sharjah was carried out on the same day that the UAE said that it would be setting up its first Covid-19 manufacturing line to begin producing the Sinopharm vaccine with the country.
