UAE President Sheikh Mohamed arrives in Russia, meets Vladimir Putin

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, arrived in Saint Petersburg on Tuesday, where he met Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The two leaders reviewed a number of regional and international issues and developments of common concern at a reception hosted by the Russian President in honour of Sheikh Mohamed.

Sheikh Mohamed highlighted the importance of continuing to make unremitting efforts to find political solutions to crises and tensions, stressing the need for dialogue between all parties, official news agency WAM reported.

President Putin provided a detailed brief to Sheikh Mohamed on the situation at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant and on Russia’s efforts to maintain nuclear security. For his part, Sheikh Mohamed said that UAE is continuing to monitor the situation at the plant.

The UAE President also briefed President Putin of Ukrainian’s position on a number of issues and emphasised the need to keep the dialogue between Russia and Ukraine open.
