UAE, Qatari delegations meet in Kuwait to follow up on Al-Ula agreement

Official delegations from the UAE and Qatar convened in Kuwait on February 22, to follow up on the Al-Ula Declaration signed on January 5 in Saudi Arabia.

Both sides discussed joint mechanisms and procedures to implement the Al-Ula declaration and emphasised on the importance of preserving Gulf unity, official news agency WAM reported.

Developing joint action in the interest of the GCC countries and their citizens, and achieving stability and prosperity in the region, were also discussed.

Saudi Arabia and three other Arab states agreed to fully restore ties with neighbouring Qatar during the 41st GCC Summit earlier this year.

In the wake of the agreement, the UAE reopened all land, sea and air ports with Qatar for inbound and outbound movement starting January 9.

Saudi Arabia also resumed flights to Qatar after the agreement.
