The total number of cases has risen to 68,020. The new cases are being treated and they were found following 57,419 tests conducted to screen for the virus. The UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention also reported one Covid-19 related fatality, taking the total death toll up to 378. Additional 57,419 Covid-19 tests were conducted by #UAE health authorities, revealing 339 new cases and bringing the total number of cases to 68,020. The new cases identified are undergoing treatment. #UAEGov — UAEGov (@uaegov) August 26, 2020 Earlier on Tuesday, Dr. Omar Al Hammadi, the official spokesman for the UAE government said that the number of cases had increased by approximately 10 per cent since the beginning of August. As a result, the number of active cases increased during the past two weeks, from 9.5 per cent to 12 per cent. However, the country has managed to control the death rates and maintain it at 0.5 per cent of the total cases. Authorities in the country have warned against spreaing misinformation with regards to the Covid-19 virus. Two individuals were reported to have been detailed on Tuesday in the UAE on charges of spreading false rumours about the pandemic.
