Home Covid-19 UAE says seeking clarity from Denmark regarding suspension of flights Denmark suspended all flights from the UAE for five days starting Thursday by Gulf Business January 24, 2021 The UAE is currently communicating with authorities in Denmark after the European nation announced a brief suspension of flights from the Emirates. According to media reports, Denmark suspended all flights from the UAE for five days starting Thursday, January 21, due to ‘suspicion’ over ‘unreliable’ coronavirus tests in Dubai. However, in response, a senior UAE official stressed that “all accredited UAE testing centres are regularly subject to strict quality checks”, official news agency WAM reported. Faisal Lutfi, assistant undersecretary for Consular Affairs at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, said that severe penalties are imposed for non-compliance with international standards to ensure the highest level of quality in testing. “Communication is currently underway with the Danish authorities to clarify the details and cases behind the decision, in order to guarantee the safety and security of all travellers,” he added. Denmark announced earlier this month that all passengers flying into the country must have negative Covid-19 test results. It has also advised people against travel abroad, including for business purposes, to stop the spread of the virus.
