Home GCC UAE UAE to start midday work ban next week Companies are permitted from making staff work under the sun at midday for three months by Robert Anderson June 5, 2018 UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has said a midday work ban will begin next week. The ban applies to work under the sun conducted by construction workers and other professions. This is because of rising summer temperatures, which can reach up to 50 degrees celsius during the middle of the day. Companies are prohibited from making their staff work from 12:00pm to 3:00pm for the June 15 to September 15 period, the ministry said on Twitter. — MOHRE_UAE (@MOHRE_UAE) June 5, 2018 Work hours for staff can also not exceed eight hours during the morning and evening combined and they are entitled to additional remuneration if they exceed eight hours of work during a period of 24 hours under UAE law. Saudi Arabia made a similar announcement for the same period earlier this week.
