No injuries have been reported by Varun Godinho January 24, 2022 The UAE’s Ministry of Defence said on Monday that its air defenses had intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles headed towards the country. According to state-run news agency WAM, the missiles were fired by the Houthi group. The ministry confirmed that the attack did not result in any casualties. Remnants from the intercepted missiles fell in separate areas around the emirate of Abu Dhabi. Furthermore, the ministry also said in a statement that it is ready to deal with any threats and that it is taking all necessary precautions to protect the UAE. It also called upon the public to obtain its news only from official sources in the country. Later on Monday morning, the UAE’s Ministry of Defence Joint Operations Command took to Twitter to announce that at 4.10am Yemen time, an F-16 destroyed a ballistic missile launcher in Al Jawf, immediately after it launched the two ballistic missiles at Abu Dhabi. Investigations revealed that the cause was a drone attack for which the Houthis claimed responsibility. Besides targeting the petroleum tankers which killed three civilians and injured six others, the drone attack last week also targeted the international airport in Abu Dhabi.
