The UAE’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) added that the number of mobile phone subscribers in August was 16.685 million, up 206,000 from 16.479 million from July. The TRA confirmed that pre-paid mobile phone subscriptions totalled 13.107 million, while post-paid mobile phone subscriptions stood at 3.578 million. Landline subscriptions likewise increased to 2.127 million in August from 2.125 in July. It indicated a rise from 23.6 to 23.75 lines per 100 people. However, the total number of internet subscriptions slightly declined to 2.996 million in August from 3 million in July, with all subscriptions conducted through broadband services. In July, UAE’s biggest telecom operator Etisalat reported Dhs4.6bn in consolidated net profits for H1 2020, a 3 per cent year-on- increase.
