The UAE government on Monday announced that it would grant 10-year golden residency visas to select high school graduates and their families.

These visas will be granted to outstanding students who have obtained an excellent grade or an average of at least 95 per cent in their general secondary certificate assessments or its equivalent, from either public or private schools, reported state-run news agency WAM.

It will also be granted to university students from both within and outside the country who have a cumulative grade point average not less than 3.75 or its equivalent in specific scientific disciplines.

Applications for these golden visas must be submitted through the Emirates Schools Establishment.

This week, the Emirates Schools Establishment announced the results of the examinations of over 28,000 12th grade students enrolled in public and private schools following the Ministry of Education’s curriculum. It said that the pass rate was 100 per cent for elite and advanced streams’ students, and it was 91 per cent overall among them.

In January this year, the UAE amended its residency laws to permit foreign university students in the country to sponsor their families, provided they have the financial means to do so and can afford suitable housing.
