Home World Europe UAE’s Coffee Planet Secures European Partnership The popular local brand will begin selling its coffee bags through 340 Jumbo supermarkets in the Netherlands. by Neil Churchill September 4, 2013 A UAE coffee brand has secured a deal to export its product to Europe, its first international venture with a major retailer. Coffee Planet, which use the largest premium roastery in the Middle East, has announced an agreement with Dutch supermarket giant Jumbo to sell its coffee bags in 340 of its stores. The UTZ certified coffee blends go on sale in the Netherlands this month, with plans to expand distribution to 500 stores next year. “We are very lucky to have such a strong and innovative partner in Jumbo who, as the Netherlands’ second largest and fastest growing retailer, supports another step towards our vision of achieving global coffee brand status,” said Robert Jones, managing director of Coffee Planet. The UAE company already has franchise operations in Oman, Malaysia and Pakistan with further store openings and wholesale distribution channels planned for Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, South Africa and Azerbaijan. In preparation for its European launch, Coffee Planet’s Roastmaster, Matt Wade, worked closely with strategic partner, Autobar Coffee Roasters, who will roast Coffee Planet’s blends under a local licence. “Having spent the last six months designing the UTZ certified blends and perfecting the roasting method to match the high quality and consistency of our Dubai operations, we are confident this new and exciting high-quality range of coffee blends will create a great buzz and following for our brand in The Netherlands,” added Jones. The news echoes that of The Emirates Industry for Camel Milk and Products, who earlier this year became the first UAE company to export its product to Europe when its Camelicious brand was picked up in Denmark and the Netherlands. 0 Comments
