UAE’s Emirates celebrated 50 years of Dubai Rugby Sevens

Throngs of spectators and rugby fans witnessed an Emirates A380 swooning over Dubai’s Sevens Stadium in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Emirates Airlines Dubai Rugby Sevens.

The Emirates A380 took off from Dubai International Airport at 2.25pm, approaching above the stadium for its its first flypast at 4.25pm. The second flypast was above the Sevens stadium at 4.40pm while circling back, a statement said.

The aircraft, donning livery dedicated to the 50th staging of Dubai Rugby Sevens, featured male and female rugby players in action, the statement said

The specific A380 aircraft has previously travelled to 34 network destinations since July this year, the statement said.

Emirates Airlines is the official sponsor of the Dubai Rugby Sevens since 1987, and has underpinned the sport in the UAE.

The 50th edition of the Dubai Rugby Sevens took place from December 5-7, welcoming spectators to watch over 900 rugby and netball matches.
