Home Covid-19 UAE’s health ministry provides in-house Covid-19 vaccinations to elderly people The health ministry called on the elderly to contact the toll-free number 800-11111 or call the ministry’s health centres to schedule an appointment by Zainab Mansoor February 16, 2021 In-house Covid-19 vaccination services will be extended to the country’s elderly citizens and residents, the UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has confirmed. The drive will be conducted in cooperation with the Ministry of Community Development and local social service departments in each emirate, official news agency WAM reported. The health ministry called on the elderly to contact the toll-free number 800-11111 or call the ministry’s health centres to schedule an appointment by choosing the nearest health centre and suitable time. Callers will receive an SMS to confirm the appointment after answering the questions to determine their eligibility for taking the vaccine. Earlier this month, Dubai launched a Covid-19 vaccination drive to inoculate senior citizens within their homes in the emirate, ensuring those individuals who are unable to visit medical centres have easy access to the vaccine. The total number of doses provided therefore stands at 5,086,835, with a vaccine distribution rate of 51.43 doses per 100 people. The UAE has approved several vaccines for use including Sinopharm, Sputnik V, Pfizer-BioNTech, and Oxford-AstraZeneca. On February 15, the UAE announced 3,123 additional cases of the Covid-19 infection, scaling the nation-wide count past 350,000.
