The year-long project, which starts this month, also includes a 6,015sqm bus gates building that will house a lounge area for 2,000 passengers and serve as the transfer facility between Terminal 3 and remote aircraft parking positions. The first floor will be fitted with a 3,200sqm Etihad Business Lounge, and a steel framed passenger link bridge that will connect the building with Terminal 3’s departures level will be built. The second building, which will house the transfer passenger screening facilities, will add 2,700sqm to the existing terminal and have “a matching architectural expression”. The full project is planned to be completed and delivered by February 2014. Ali Majed Al Mansouri, chairman of ADAC said it is committed to providing the best services to airlines and passengers despite existing capacity challenges. The airport saw 18.9 per cent growth in passenger traffic last year. The new developments are designed to meet the growth of Etihad Airways and other carriers in the next four years ahead of the Midfield Terminal Building opening in 2017. 0 Comments
