Volkswagen Middle East has set up a new e-commerce platform in association with its dealer partners in the UAE and Saudi Arabia which will allow customers to purchase its vehicles entirely online.

Customers will be able to request a test drive by booking an appointment with the dealership, which in turn will adhere to prevailing Covid-19 precautionary measures.

A Live Chat facility will also allow customers to access an online personal chat with a dealership’s sales representative to discuss finance and insurance options as well as trims on the selected models.

In both Saudi Arabia and the UAE, the deposit to reserve a car as well as payment for the purchase itself can be made entirely online without customers having to visit the dealership.

The new e-commerce channel currently allows the purchase of Volkswagen SUV models such as the Teramont, Touareg and Tiguan, to sedan and hatchback models including the Golf GTI, Golf R and Passat.

A recent YallaMotor Covid-19 Car Buyer GCC Report 2020 stated that six out of 10 buyers in the GCC are willing to purchase vehicles online.

“Launching online sales for Volkswagen Middle East was an upmost priority for us and we see this as the right step at the right time. Three of our major markets are now live, and we will continue to integrate this throughout the region to make sure we offer our customers a safe, effective and efficient sales process,” said Victor Dalmau, managing director of Volkswagen Middle East.

On April 29, Audi Volkswagen Middle East said that it had provided several cars to the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS) to support its effort to fight the Covid-19 pandemic in the emirate.

The fleet of vehicles include the Audi Q3, Q5 and Q8 as well as the Touareg, Teramont, Tiguan and Passat from Volkswagen – all of which are already being used to transport critical equipment, medical supplies and meals to team workers and their families living in the UAE.
