Moviegoers will have to be vaccinated and registered on Kuwait’s Immune App to enter. The cinema arm of UAE-based Majid Al Futtaim, Vox Cinemas, confirmed that the reopening would be accompanied by strict adherence to government Covid-19 guidelines. Seating will now follow social distancing guidelines; therefore, seats next to, in front of, and behind the guest will be left empty. To minimize exposure, contactless payment options will be available as well as a queue-less experience. Face masks are mandatory for all guests and employees. Also, all workstations and countertops will be sanitized every thirty minutes, and employees will be required to wash their hands every twenty minutes as well as after handling food. Ali AlOqab, regional manager, Kuwait, Lebanon and Jordan, Majid Al Futtaim cinemas and Majid Al Futtaim leisure and entertainment said, “After being closed for more than a year, we’re extremely excited about reopening our doors at The Avenues and having the opportunity to reconnect with our valued guests. VOX Cinemas has been reopening cinemas across the region since May last year so cinemagoers can rest assured that we are exceeding recommended guidelines to ensure that families can enjoy the collective experience of watching their favourite films on the big screen with added peace of mind.” Vox cinemas have also reopened in other GCC locations such as Abu Dhabi. However, the safety protocols in that location are much stricter and are required to operate at a 30 per cent capacity as opposed to 50 per cent in Kuwait.
