Watch: Dramatic footage of Burj Khalifa hit by lightning

The UAE faced heavy rains accompanied by lightning and thunder on Saturday, with residents sharing several videos of the extreme weather on social media.

A dramatic video shared by Dubai’s Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum on Twitter shows lightning striking the world’s tallest building — Burj Khalifa.

The slow-motion video shows the moment it struck the spire of the 829 metre-tall tower during the storm.

Other residents also managed to capture footage of the super tall tower being hit by lightning.

Lightning was also recorded in the mountains of Ras Al Khaimah. The emirate also reportedly witnessed hail on Saturday.
