Yango sets up global office in Dubai

Technology firm Yango has announced plans to set up a new global operational office that will be open in the fourth quarter of this year in Dubai Internet City, part of TECOM Group.

The company said the strategic move to establish its global operational office represents a significant milestone in overseeing the operations of several services including Yango ride-hailing, Yango Delivery and Yango Tech.

“The new global operational office will become a catalyst for technological advancements by providing an environment that encourages collaboration and innovation, enabling the company to develop and deliver solutions that cater to the specific requirements of its international clientele,” Yango said in a statement.

The office will serve as a centre of excellence for the firm’s operations in more than 20 countries in the Middle East, Africa, and beyond. It will also pave the way for the firm to further enrich the tech sector by empowering local talent, fostering innovation, and facilitating knowledge exchange on a global scale.

Yango’s growth strategy

Meanwhile, Yango now accounts for between 4 per cent and 8 per cent of all ride-hailing journeys in Dubai after starting operations after its started operations in September 2022.

The company is currently working on an Arabic-speaking, human-like artificial intelligence-powered assistant called Yasmina – an empathetic companion that executes more than just basic tasks such as streaming music or controlling smart home appliances.

“Dubai’s progressive, innovation-friendly business environment, world-class infrastructure, and strategic location make it the perfect choice for Yango to embark on a global expansion and Dubai Internet City, renowned for its role in nurturing the technology and innovation sector for over two decades, emerged as the ideal location for Yango’s new global operational office,” said Adeniyi Adebayo, the ride-hailing firm’s chief business development officer.

The company launched a new on-demand consumer-to-consumer delivery feature in April, a service that allows Dubai residents to send and receive goods across the city within just 60 minutes.

The global last-mile delivery platform provider aims that, with the new offer, riders will arrive within 15 minutes of a customer request being submitted.

Yango’s exhibition at GITEX Global 2023 underscores its commitment to delivering innovative technologies that enhance people’s lives. The assistant is available for beta testing and is being showcased at GITEX Global 2023.
